Carla told me the other day that I should take up crafting to deal with stress. I’m not sure that it would help, or that I’m even good at making anything, but it did push me to try to be more creative in my daily activities.
So as I write this letter on a picture-perfect beautiful spring day, it makes me want to be outside enjoying everything that Houston has to offer, including our endless arts and entertainment options. From our magnificent Museum District to our growing live music scene, we have access (and are home to) some of the best creative minds in the world. If you’re not taking advantage of it, you’re missing out.
In this issue, we profile the people and arts organizations who entertain, challenge and delight us…from the underground comedy scene to a photographer who’s an Instagram sensation, a multi-sensory visual artist to a first-person account of what it means to be a “dance dad.” It’s a pretty diverse round up of the local scene, with stories you’ll only find here in LOCAL Houston.
The LOCAL storytellers are out in full force this month, with the writers and photographers who document the best, newest and most important developments in art, food, style and community news. As always, I thank our team for their outstanding work and thank you readers for your support.
Now go make something.
