This time of year my skin is at its worst – dry and cracked with the lack of ability to absorb moisture. But luckily I just discovered Parry Botanicals, a 100% all natural line and it just so happens to be LOCAL. Started by Elizabeth K. Parry after being diagnosed with a number of food and environmental allergies, she started creating her own lotions in her kitchen. She honed the line with chemists, perfecting the formula; and today there are three products: a Restorative Cream, Body Butter and the Pure Botanical Lotion. I am loving the Restorative Cream right now. It’s highly emollient, thick and actually manages to penetrate my iguana-like skin. I love that there is no scent so my oils layer perfectly. This stuff doubles as diaper ointment, and I’ve even put it on my face. $18–22, www.parrybotanicals.com
Another Houston-based beauty badass I’m loving is BlendSMART, an automated makeup brush. I could go into the technicalities of how this thing works but all you need to know is that you push the “on” button and the foundation brush spins and rotates while perfectly blending your foundation onto your face for a flawless, naturally even look. I was skeptical, but now I’m a believer. $79 for the starter kit. www.blendsmart.com
DIANA LOPEZ represented the United States at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing where she won a bronze medal in TaeKwonDo. Lopez shares, “I am officially retired from the sport of TaeKwonDo, and although I will really miss being in Rio, I love being a new mom. Some aspects of my life have changed, but I’m enjoying it.” The new mom is a middle school teacher.

Tiger Den. Ramen was my pregnancy craving last year and I still love it. One of the best in town! I usually get the Tantan-men. www.tigerdentx.com
