I’m a native Houstonian and returned home to KPRC Channel 2 as Sports Director in 2004 after seven years in Dallas and seven years in Beaumont. I grew up in Meyerland in Southwest Houston and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1985! This great city has so much to offer not only to those who have spent most of their lives here, but also to the many who move to the Bayou City every year. Here are a few of my favorites!
SPORTS IN GENERAL: This is what I do for a living! I get the honor of covering our local teams and bringing Houstonians our best coverage at KPRC Channel 2 every night. Our sports department is the best in town and from the pro teams, college teams to the great high school stories around the city, we have you covered. Covering the Astros World Series run was one of the highlights of my nearly 30-year TV broadcasting career. Growing up in Houston, we had all waited for that crowning moment in early November when they got it done against the Dodgers. What a thrill – and 2018 they could very well repeat as champs!
GOLF: My big hobby is hitting the links. I love to play the courses here in the Houston area. Memorial Park is a classic course and in Fort Bend County, I’m a big fan of Quail Valley in Missouri City, Sienna Plantation, Riverbend and Sweetwater Country Club. I play quite a bit in the spring and summer before the football season grind begins. When it gets hot, you’ll find my group and me teeing it up early morning to beat the heat!
DESTINATION: I love to travel with my beautiful wife. We have been to many places and more to come. My personal favorite is Cabo. The food, accommodations and activities are endless. I’m also a fan of Playa Del Carmen, Florida, California and Colorado. Any vacation is a good vacation, right?
GULF COAST SALTWATER FISHING: There is nothing like fishing the Galveston Bay and surrounding areas. My schedule keeps me pretty busy, but spring, summer and early fall, on-shore or offshore, you are in for a treat. Speckled trout, redfish and red snapper fishing is a blast. All I need is a boat and friendly guide and I’m there day or night!
FAMILY: My wife Tammy and I have been married for 28 years. We have two daughters: Courtney (22), who graduated from Texas A&M and now works in Dallas for Senero, while our youngest, Keely (18), is a freshman at Baylor.
FOOD: Seafood and Mexican food, hands down, and I also like a good steak as well. Too many places to list here but Houston has it covered when it comes to great food! You can’t go wrong! I’m also a sweet treat fan so give me ice
cream and tasty desserts anytime!
