Based in Manchester, New Hampshire, FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology and engineering.
More than 200 guests attended the event which is known for its extravagant and ornate hats. The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center was recently ranked among the “Top 10 Best Things to Do in Sugar Land” by TripAdvisor.

EVENT: MEMORIAL KIDS FOR THE CURE
WHERE: CITYCENTRE PLAZA
In an effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, the Le family of Houston hosted a lemonade stand on Sunday, June 11, in the plaza at CITYCENTRE in Houston. The Memorial Kids for the Cure lemonade stand is during Alex’s Lemonade Days, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s (ALSF) national fundraising campaign.
Hien Le’s family also volunteers for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Inspired by bringing joy to children with severe illnesses, oftentimes cancer, the family wanted to further their impact. They discovered ALSF and how raising money through lemonade stands was funding childhood cancer research, making lemonade out of lemons.
Founded by Alex Scott (1996–2004) in 2004, Alex’s Lemonade Days is a national event that grew out of Alex’s front yard lemonade stand. Held every June, an estimated 10,000 volunteers host over 2,000 Alex’s Lemonade Stands around the nation making a difference for children with cancer.
