Radio Milano Pours It On
New Sommelier Goes Rogue
Welcome Joshua Theis, the new Certified Sommelier at Radio Milano at the Hotel Sorella in CityCentre. At 27, the Catalan-raised Theis has designed his wine list to steer away from the major labels guests can easily find pretty much everywhere (Prisoner, Duckhorn, etc). He seeks out wines and winemakers who believe in blending both Old and New World styles and truly tries to show the terroir of their region through their wines. His main focus is Italy of course, but the major regions that hold his heart are Germany and Slovenia.
Theis’ formal wine education began with local mentors like Master Sommeliers Guy Stout and David Keck, who were instrumental in encouraging him to enter into the Court of Master Sommeliers program in 2014. The following year, he completed the examination and became a Certified Sommelier. Currently, Theis is studying for his Advanced Level Certification which he will take in November 2017.
