THE ARTISTS OF SAWYER YARDS know how to celebrate Earth Day – with their Spring Biannual Stroll & Sale benefiting the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. Saturday, April 22, from 5–10pm, is your opportunity to explore all five studios in the Sawyer Yards creative campus, buy directly from local artists and take part in a charity birdhouse sale.
Just for reference, the campus includes:
• SILVER STREET STUDIOS – 2000 Edwards St.
• SPRING STREET STUDIOS – 1824 Spring St.
• SUMMER STREET STUDIOS – 2204 Summer St.
• THE SILOS AT SAWYER YARDS – 1502 Sawyer St.
• WINTER STREET STUDIOS – 2101 Winter St.
From 3–5pm at Spring Street Studios, birdhouses decorated by local celebrities will be for sale during a silent auction. The roster of celebs includes Mayor Sylvester Turner, Rod Ryan of The Buzz, famed artist and sculptor David Adickes, internationally known artist Sharon Kopriva, broker/owner of Boulevard Realty Bill Baldwin and KPRC2 weatherman Frank Billingsley. Birdhouses decorated by the Artists at Sawyer Yards will be for sale (one location in each campus building from 5–10pm) for $100 each. All proceeds benefit the Houston Arboretum.
Sawyer Yards Creative Campus (where LOCAL Houston magazine also makes its home) is the outcome of a revolutionary partnership between some of Houston’s leading developers. Dedicated to preserving the creative culture of the quickly changing Washington Avenue Arts District, the project partners came together to create a permanent home for the creative minds of Houston. An inspiring mix of architecture, landscape design, traditional arts and non-traditional marketing, this creative community bursts with innovative energy, exciting cultural programming and creative idea exchange.
Come out and explore, and support local artists and our local arboretum.
