WHAT: Houston Baptist University’s (HBU) Spirit of Excellence Gala
WHERE: The Post Oak Hotel
Houston Baptist University (HBU) hosted its Spirit of Excellence Gala, presented by Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. McNair and Dr. Stewart Morris, Sr. on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at The Post Oak Hotel. The event, hosted at one of Houston’s finest venues, began with an auction of experiences at HBU, such as A Night at the Museum –private tour and dinner in our three University Museums, HBU Cheerleader for a Day, Camp HBU registration and gear, and much more. The auction items, tables and sponsorships raised $658,434 in total. Guests then enjoyed roasted tenderloin of beef paired with jumbo gulf shrimp brushed with lemon beurre blanc, a show stopping performance of “How Do I Keep from Singing” by HBU alumnus, Mon’Sher Spencer, and the presentation of award recipients.
Guests had the privilege of listening to keynote speaker, Chip Gaines. Chip and his wife Joanna are the co-founders of Magnolia, a home and lifestyle brand, and authors of New York Times bestseller, The Magnolia Story. Not only did this night reflect the class and elegance of Houston but was an effort to raise awareness of and funds for university scholarships while honoring pillars of the community. These honorees play a significant role in supporting HBU’s mission and exemplify outstanding leadership and commitment to Christian higher education.
