Co-Founder and President, Nancy Levicki, supporters of Dress for Success Houston, its Board of Directors and event chairs for the evening, Cathy & Joe Cleary and Linda & Steve Webster, joined us in a sold out crowd of 600 celebrating our 20th year of empowering women in the Houston community. This moveable feast was held on October 20th at The Revaire, and the evening raised a record breaking $741,050 for the agency!
The event began with KHOU 11 News Reporter and Anchor Mia Gradney acting as emcee, highlighting Dress for Success Houston’s mission, KHOU’s documentary, “A Common Thread” and featuring eleven client success stories. Co-Founder and President, Nancy Levicki, honored Chevron, accepted by Nicole Barber, Public Affairs Manager, and United, accepted by Cheryl Reed, Regional Sales Director, for their 20 years of commitment, passion and support of the more than 40,000 women served since 1998. 600 foodies proceeded to the “Great Room” for an evening of celebration and fun, as they dined on gourmet cuisine at food stations throughout the building. All of the guests enjoyed fine wines that were paired with each of the chef’s dishes, generously donated by Total Wine and More.
Proceeds from the evening’s festivities will allow Dress for Success Houston to continue to grow its mission of promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women. In addition to providing professional attire, its services have expanded to include added career development tools and workshops to help women thrive in their jobs and in their lives. As a result, of the 3,000 women who have been suited to date in 2018, an astounding 55% have landed jobs – other Dress for Success affiliates average at 26%. Funds raised from this event will help Dress for Success Houston reach its goal of providing more than 17,000 units of service to over 3,500 Houston area women and over 60% will gain employment. When you impact the life of a woman, you not only help her, but also her children, family, and this great city we all call home.
