There’s nothing quite like sleeping in your own bed, however sometimes the holidays entail a hotel stay. Luckily, Houston has been busy upgrading the local home away from home offerings, and as we enter this holiday season we’ve amassed a list for you to choose from.
Stay in Downtown at The Four Seasons Hotel. A long-standing institution in town that maybe didn’t quite live up to its name in years past, The Four Seasons kicked into high gear with upgrades for Super Bowl LI. Recent renovations have made this hotel a shining star in town. Sleek, welcoming, luxurious design throughout makes you want to never leave. The bar is the perfect place to perch for a while. The property is offering 7 packages currently, from a stay longer offer with up to 20% off, to a Weekend Getaway and a package with kids. Check it out here.

The Hotel Alessandra is as darling as her name. This latest addition to Downtown has all the cool kids swooning at her grace. Modern, bright and sleek, this place is picture perfect! From a Christmas Eve dinner at Lucienne, the hotel’s restaurant with Executive Chef Jose Hernandez, featuring a four-course dinner to a New Year’s package with accommodations for two.

In Uptown, the Granduca is like an Italian villa right in the shopping district of the Galleria area. This plush hotel brings old world charm to the modern world we live in. The restaurant fare is delicious with its authentic Italian offerings. The suites are vast, and the poolside terrace is the place for a drink or lunch. Offers through the holiday season include a direct booking incentive to use at Ristorante Cavour or Bar Malatesta, live music or a romantic getaway. Click here for all the details

The ZaZa has been busy opening up their second location, The Zaza Memorial, and draws inspiration from sun-drenched Palm Springs, evoking mid-century modern details. Poolside is what these hotels are known; lucky for us, Houston is a 365-pool-day kind of town. The Beach Club will be offering the same poolside experience concept (with private cabanas, fireplaces, fountains and full-service bar) that its older sister in the Museum District is already known for. Click here for specials. Speaking of that sister, if you’re staying in that area, The ZaZa Museum District’s rock and roll aesthetic is cooler than cool. You’ll be close to the MFAH, the Zoo, The Natural Museum of Science and so much art you won’t be able to handle it. Click here for specials.

If the West Side is your jam, you’ve got the aforementioned Zaza Memorial City or the Hotel Sorella, which also falls under the same owners as The Allesandra (The Valencia Group). Located within CityCentre, you won’t lack for shopping or eating destinations here. The rooms are modern and a cute pool overlooking the active Green area is always fun. For packages, visit their web.

It doesn’t get more old school than the St. Regis in Upper Kirby-ish area. This property still holds its own among all the newbies with style and grace. It’s located smack dab in between the Galleria area’s shopping mecca and some of the best Christmas décor in River Oaks. The suites are elegant and refined. And Remington Bar will STILL make you get up and dance. For packages, click here.

Don’t let the big city fool you, Houston is SUPER GREEN, and the The Houstonian Hotel is nestled into one of its many pockets of forest. Very Texan in its design, this place aims to wow through its service, amenities and holiday décor. From the winding driveway where you are greeted with the historic, huge, brightly lit oak tree, which leads to the luxurious lodge-like property – the journey starts before you even arrive. Accommodations are luxe and cozy. If you are into fitness, take advantage of The Club, which is a leader in fitness in Houston. The Trellis Spa offers relaxation at its best and the pools will keep any child happy for hours.
