Don’t just be a good gift-giver. Be a gift-giver who does good. Check out the apparel, cards, jewelry and even iPhone® covers available from The Children’s Art Project at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
What started as a holiday greeting card effort 40 years ago has blossomed into a year-round art merchandising enterprise, which is sold online at www.childrensartproject.org, at the MD Anderson Volunteer Services Gift Shops and at partner retail stores, including Randalls, HEB and Central Market. Proceeds benefit pediatric cancer programs at the institution.
The Children’s Art Project provides an outlet for children and teens receiving cancer care at Anderson. Through a therapeutic and healing art experience, pediatric patients are able to reduce stress and take their minds off of their cancer treatment. Since the launch of Children’s Art Project, thousands of pediatric patients have participated in the weekly art classes and many patients have seen their artwork featured on merchandise.
Merchandise currently available with patient-inspired artwork includes holiday cards, Christopher Radko ornaments, kitchen accessories, men’s silk ties, women’s adult-sized pajamas and other gift items.
